Jared Savocchi opened The Native’s doors in November 2016 with the hopes of creating a comfortable, safe, and inclusive environment for all to enjoy affordable drinks and friendly faces. Coming from working most of his life in a family business, it was also important to him to have a close-knit staff. His goal was to bring people together over their love of friendship, community, and music, and through his passion, dedication, and vision, he has created a truly special, hidden gem in Chicago.

Sam Edgin joined on in 2017 to help further Jared’s vision by focusing on event programming. Sam is now the General Manager and Events Coordinator, boasting an average of 25+ events a month, ranging from B-Movie Bingo, Mae’s Adult Study Hall & Craft Night, and Trivia, to DJ nights of a variety of genres, dance parties on the patio, and fundraisers for local animal shelters and rescues.

In 2023, Brian Tepps & Michael Mercurio stepped up as the first official Managers (aka Business Daddy and Night Daddy, respectively), helping to grow the business and exemplify our passion for our community and regulars. The Native is grateful for all their staff: Michael, Delance, Zaf, Mosher, Brandon, Porscha & Max. Thanks to them, The Native has become such a unique, welcoming space that sets them a part from all the rest.
